The build
How it came together
The courtyard began as a narrow side yard and became a deliberate outdoor room. A dark-stained horizontal wood fence wraps the perimeter, creating an enclosed backdrop that reads almost architectural — its warm, charcoal tone grounding the entire composition.
Against that backdrop, a series of square metal wall panels with radiating line patterns hang at even intervals, functioning as outdoor art rather than decoration. Young feathery trees planted in tall white tapered planters — each resting on a pale stone pad — stand in quiet rhythm along the fence line, softening the geometry without dissolving it.
Synthetic turf covers the floor plane in a clean, even green, removing visual noise at ground level and letting the vertical composition hold full attention. Low-profile black wall-mount fixtures punctuate the fence at consistent heights, indicating that the space reads just as well after dark.
